Diary of A Happy Housewife

Beijing native Wang Xiaoxing's Glamorous Housewife blog on SINA (China's Twitter) is a huge hit with women looking for cooking, gardening and childcare hints.
Wang enjoys being a full-time housewife. But it's clear to see from her daily timetable just how demanding it is.
Wang's day starts at 7:00 a.m. She makes her husband a healthy breakfast of rice, a vegetable and a fish dish and soup, rather than the more conventionally calorie-packed meal of milk, bread, porridge and frittered dough.
After bathing and dressing Wang makes her infant son Kela's meals for the day and plays with him until 11 am when it's time for his nap.
For the next hour she edits manuscripts and pictures destined for her blog. She plays with Kela for an hour at noon, and then goes back to blog-work until 2.30 pm. At 3 pm she gives Kela a bath and puts him down for another nap.
At 5:00 p.m. Wang prepares supper, and at 6:30 p.m. takes Kela for a walk in the park.  She then goes home before it gets too dark and cooks supper. Wang puts Kela to bed at 8:30 p.m. and has dinner with her husband.
They usually watch TV and chat from 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. Wang does more work on her blog until 11.30 pm and then goes to bed.
Wang considers herself a traditional Chinese housewife and mother.
Although no gastronome, she is good at cooking and likes to share her thoughts on it. The metaphors that come into her mind as she cooks often appear on her blog.
She thinks of women as comparable to potatoes because they act as impressive garnish but can be as soft as mashed potatoes.
Wang thinks of men as similar to noodles, because no matter what kind of dressing you put on them they are still noodles in essence. This is her way of suggesting to women not to try to change their husbands.
Wang got married in 2006, the publication year of her first book Talking about Love and Dishes. She has since published three best-selling books.
Her reasons for deciding to be a full-time housewife since resigning from her well-paid job on a popular newspaper are simply that it is a role she enjoys.
